Bible Verse Canvas DIY

Hi friends!

Today I’m going to share with you an ongoing project I’ve got in the works! (Ongoing meaning I haven’t actually made the time to sit and finish it, just random spurts into the craft room)

In our last house, we had a vinyl decal on the wall of Joshua 24:15 “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” And I loved the verse, and that it was one of the first things you saw when you walked into our living room. So for this house I wanted to incorporate it somewhere. The walls in this house are very textured, so vinyl decals won’t stick. That’s what drew me to a canvas. (Drew me, get it *snickers*) And I get to play with paint! I love the idea of painting and mixing colors, but I’m not all that great at it. Any excuse to practice! I’m not positive where I will put it just yet, but it will be in the kitchen or living room.

Here’s what I’ve done so far. Got a huge canvas. It’s a 24×30″. (It seems bigger than it really is, I guess) And painted it with black acrylic paint all over. I then used thin washi tape as a guide for writing out the verse in white colored pencil. I wanted to make the words even and straight. I did have to pull up the washi tape a couple of times and repaint my canvas because I messed up with the pencil, but hey, who cares. Once I get the pencil how I want it and like the way it looks, I’ll go over it with white acrylic paint. I’m doing a skinny capital font and a kind of bounce lettering cursive. At the bottom there will be a white flower/wreath design. I’m not quite sure how I will pull that off yet. But my main color scheme is black, white, green, and gold-ish yellow.

I had just repainted a section, that’s why it’s kinda splotchy. I’m not too sure about the ampersand either. We’ll see. But this is what I have so far! I plan on finishing it this weekend sometime! Stay tuned…

xoxo,

Caitlin
